Dr. Jeremy Smith is committed to expanding access to specialized spine care for children who may otherwise go without treatment.
Through ongoing humanitarian and medical mission work in Africa, Dr. Smith collaborates with experienced spine surgeons and medical teams to help children with scoliosis and congenital spinal conditions receive the specialized care they need.
Dr. Smith will once again participate in a medical mission supporting children from across sub-Saharan Africa who need complex spine surgery.
Working alongside the team at FOCOS Hospital and fellow physicians participating in the mission, Dr. Smith will help provide surgical treatment for children with scoliosis and congenital spine conditions who may have limited access to specialized care.
This year’s fundraising goal is $165,000.
Approximately $15,000 can fund one child’s surgical care, including pre-operative care, surgery, necessary surgical supplies, and post-operative care.
Every contribution helps expand access to specialized spine care for children and families across sub-Saharan Africa.

Dr. Smith’s commitment to global outreach extends beyond a single mission. His previous humanitarian work has included medical missions in Ghana as well as time providing care in Nigeria, creating opportunities to collaborate with local and international medical teams while serving children and communities with limited access to specialized spine care.
These experiences reflect a continuing commitment to using medicine to make an impact beyond borders and to supporting greater access to high-quality spine care where it is needed most.
